Bio Materials with core barrier properties

We are testing various materials and compounds that provide the below barrier properties. Traditional materials that achieve these barrier properties are not sustainable and contribute to negative Eco Impact. We are maturing sustainable, renewable, bio materials to replace traditional barrier materials. New materials will have low carbon footprint, positive Eco Impact and contribute to circular economy.

Properties & Criteria: Moisture barrier, Oxygen barrier, Anti-microbial barrier, Thermal barrier, PH Barrier, Aluminium alternative, PFAS Free, plastic free.

Aluminium Alternative for High Heat Resistant Flexible Barrier Material

In flexible packaging that needs high heat resistance - Aluminium is the most commonly used material today. Aluminium is usually fully recyclable however it has multiple drawbacks. Aluminium is a non-renewable resource, it is toxic for many natural ecosystems. WHO and similar organizations do not recommend Aluminium as food contact material. We are working towards developing a material that can replace Aluminium while maintaining the key properties. It shall also be a renewable material that is designed for recyclability and / or compostability - contributing to circular economy.
The temperature range expected in current target applications are: > 350 °C
- 400 °C for an extended period of time > 4 hours.
